Tiger Woods ended his opening round of the Dubai Desert Classic with a late eagle at the par-5 closing hole, leaving us to wonder if the impressive finish was a mere temporary flashback to the younger Tiger or a harbinger of things to come. If his Friday score was any indicator, it may be a sign of good things to come. Woods shot a 6-under 66 on Friday at Emirates Golf Club to post 7 under par for two rounds is now four shots back of leader Rory McIlroy. After his impressive round Woods said, “I played myself right back into the tournament. I felt I hit the ball a lot better and the greens were absolutely perfect. It was steady. I didn’t make as many mistakes as yesterday and I felt it was important to post a number.” Woods continues the third round today in the Dubai Desert Classic.
